Illinois Congressman Continues To Stand By Trump

US Rep. Rodney Davis

A Republican congressman from central Illinois seems to be standing by President Trump.

Rodney Davis represents the 13th congressional district, including parts of Champaign, Bloomington, Decatur and Springfield.

Davis suggested he’s unconvinced by the impeachment testimony offered so far — saying none of the witnesses claimed they were acting on orders received directly from the president.

“If you’re going to impeach a president over what Rudy Giuliani may or may not have said, shouldn’t the impeachment be over Rudy Giuliani?,” said Davis.

When Davis was asked whether the president should order Rudy Giuliani and his chief of staff to testify,  the congressman changed the subject.

Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D) Illinois is filing paperwork to run for a fifth term in the Senate.

Pressed by reporters on whether he thinks President Trump should be impeached, Durbin declined to say.

“Everybody has a feeling, but not everyone will serve on the jury,” said Durbin. “Senators — all hundred of us — will serve on that jury, and I have a responsibility under the Constitution to be fair.”
