Today’s headlines:

  • It’s been one year since the attack on the U.S. Capitol building. Illinois U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth said she still remembers the events of that day vividly.

  • Illinois Republicans are blaming Democrats in Springfield for not replacing a departing legislative watchdog.

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has halved the number of days of isolation for those sick with COVID-19. But, Illinois school districts have not made that change yet.

  • The University of Illinois system will now require COVID-19 booster shots to be on campus.

In today’s deep dive, we’ll ride along on a Rockford school bus where they’ve been dealing with a shortage of bus drivers all year.

217 Today is produced by Farrah Anderson. Reporting today contributed by Dave McKinney, Emily Hays and Peter Medlin.

COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving story, and we are working hard to bring you the most up-to-date information. We recommend checking the Coronavirus Information Center for the most recent numbers and guidance.
