WEATHER ALERT: Severe storms expected late this afternoon and evening

217 Today: Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021

Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021

Today’s headlines:

  • After nearly 20 years of attempts, the state of Illinois will finally sell the James R. Thompson Center in downtown Chicago.

  • Champaign’s new plan to reduce gun violence divides $3.2 million in pandemic relief among local agencies. None of that new money would go to the Champaign Police Department.

  • Residents hoping to travel by rail this month might find their options limited due to increased demand for public transportation this time of year.

In today’s deep dive, we’ll take a tour through an exhibit at Krannert Art Museum that’s meant to change the way we think about disability. Two Illinois Public Media student reporters visited the exhibit this semester as part of a class trip meant to help University of Illinois students understand how museum exhibits could be made more accessible for guests with disabilities.
