Ask The 21st

what questions do you have?

What questions do you have about how government works and how people in Illinois are represented in Washington?

From February 12-14, The 21st is heading to Washington, D.C. to broadcast live from NPR headquarters. We’ll be speaking to lawmakers, Illinoisans in Washington, and even longtime host (and Chicagoan) Scott Simon.

Ahead of that, we want your questions about federal government and how Illinoisans are represented in it to help us shape our coverage.

You might wonder: How did the shutdown affect Illinois? What are House Democrats hoping to accomplish in the next two years? What’s behind the partisan divide between different parts of the state?

This is part of an ongoing series where we ask you, our audience, to help shape our coverage.

Here’s how it works: You share your questions with us. We answer a few questions a month. (Sometimes we’ll have you vote on the questions you most want us to answer.) Some questions may spark larger investigations by our team, some will be shorter web stories or radio segments, and some questions may be answered through a quick email. We might ask you to come along for our reporting process to find your answer together. Whatever your question, we appreciate you asking.
