Severe Storms Possible In Central IL This Weekend

Below are posts as the Illinois Newsroom followed the developing weather situation early Saturday morning.

After heavy rain and winds passed through Central Illinois early Saturday morning, but the National Weather Service says more severe storms are in the forecast for the weekend.  The main severe weather concerns will be large hail and damaging winds. Meteorologists also say an isolated tornado will also be possible on Sunday.

From the National Weather Service: Severe storms capable of damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall are ongoing late tonight. Seek shelter indoors when storms approach.

From the National Weather Service: Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued until 4:00 AM CDT for Coles, Vermilion, Champaign, Piatt, De Witt, Moultrie, Macon and Douglas Counties.

On Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Lincoln predicted possible severe weather for central Illinois overnight Friday into Saturday morning.
